Ingredients

For Marinating Chicken

  • 500g boneless chicken
  • ½ cup curd (yogurt)
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste

For Butter Chicken Gravy

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ cup fresh cream
  • 1 tsp kasuri methi
  • Salt to taste

Step-by-Step Recipe

Step 1: Marinate the Chicken

In a bowl, combine yogurt, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, chili powder, turmeric, garam masala, and salt.

Add chicken pieces and marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Step 2: Cook the Chicken

Heat a pan with a little oil and cook the marinated chicken until lightly browned.

Remove and set aside.

Step 3: Prepare the Gravy

Heat butter and oil in a pan.

Add onions and sauté until golden brown.

Add ginger garlic paste and cook for one minute.

Step 4: Add Tomato Puree

Pour in the tomato puree and cook until the oil begins separating.

Add red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, sugar, and salt.

Cook for 5-7 minutes.

Step 5: Combine Chicken and Gravy

Add the cooked chicken to the gravy.

Mix well and simmer for 10 minutes.

Step 6: Finish With Cream

Add fresh cream and crushed kasuri methi.

Mix gently and cook for another 2 minutes.

Serve hot.
